15 May Playing With Animals Boots Immune Function
Children who are raised with animals from a young age are exposed to an assortment of bacteria that reside on their pets. Furry family members can bring countless ‘healthy’ bacteria found in nature inside the home which is carried on their paws and fur. It’s this exposure to a diverse range of beneficial bacteria that experts believe is responsible strengthening a child’s immune system.
There is a diverse range of bacteria living in your child’s gut and animal exposure helps to increase the different types of bacteria and the more bacteria the better. These microbes work hand-in-hand with the immune system to fight infections and they also help to calm it down from reacting to harmless influences too.
Over Active Immune Function = Allergies, Eczema and Asthma
When kids are exposed to animals early on, they are less likely to suffer from allergies including asthma and eczema than kids who don’t live with animals. Next time you see your furry family member, give them a big cuddle because they act as a lovely probiotic.
Under Active Immune Function = Recurring infections
When your child’s immune system is working under par, this leaves them exposed to catching any bacterial or viral infections that’s going around. With 80% of the immune system situated within the gut wall, a diverse range of beneficial bacteria play an enormous role in supporting the immune system to keep your child healthy.
Good Bacteria is also Found in Nature
Playing outside is important too, kids need to get dirty because there is beneficial bacteria found in soil and nature. Exposure to a wide range of bacteria not only improve the population of food bacteria living deep inside the gut, they act as a great training ground to teach the immature immune system how to effectively deal with everyday germs.
