How to eat SLOW

Eating fruit and vegetables in season, means they are fresh and contain the most nutrients to nurture and nourish your child’s health.  When food is sourced locally this means that it hasn’t travelled for long distances (even from overseas) and therefore it is more likely the nutritional content of the food is in tact.  Farmers markets are one of the best places to source seasonal and locally grown produce.  If you shop at the supermarket, it’s ideal to choose the fruit and vegetables that are marked ‘new season’ and make sure it’s produce that has been grown in Australia.  Fruit and vegetables grown overseas may be contaminated with potential danger chemicals including herbicides and pesticides.  

How to remove chemical residue from Fruit and Vegetables

Soaking non-organic produce in a vinegar bath.  1 part vinegar to 3 parts water for 15 minutes, rinse and dry and store as you do usually.
